What a year 2020 was! Like everyone we sure didn't expect to see such a dramatic start to the new decade. How did you cope? What changes did you have to make to your life, business and plans? For me 2020 saw a lot of growth and changes. As you have read I had many adventures planned both personally and MakeUp Me wise. As optimistic and exciting it was to start the year and plan the busy year ahead my plans soon took a new direction. In 2020 I soon came to realise as everything started to shut down and life as we knew it was changed forever I saw bookings begin to cancel or postponed, my son was pulled from school soon after all schools where closed and home schooling became the new normal. My boys and I held out hope for our big adventure to the states for a while until it became obvious this pandemic is hear to stay for the year. As everything started to close I along with 4 photographers adventured into a studio space. Yes our timing couldn't have been worse. The very week after the lease was signed and keys were in our hands the world shut down for months. We took this time and set out to transform an old rundown medical suite into our studio. Walls were painted, floors were ripped out and new ones placed down. We revamped the entire place. We soon had a beautiful functional space ready for opening and launch day. Nova Photography Hub located in Warners Bay, NSW, Australia was born. Our doors opened to limited numbers, social distancing and new ways of operating. I got to get back into my makeup. I couldn't believe how long between makeup jobs I had to wait. I felt so excited to apply the first foundation, liner and eye shadow. The joy it was to get the studio up and running and makeup applications going. Yes my new norm is working through masks and navigating this aspect. For some reason my masks like to move all the way up to my eyes which is very helpful when your trying to apply mascara. For me the mask wearing is the only major change I have had to implement with my already high standards of hygiene practices. Check out the results of the Makeup I got to do as things started to relax. After Kelly came in for a Glamour, Boudoir shoot with the amazing Harley, some more beautiful ladies got to come in for sessions suiting their style. Meet Megan she is a local musician who also teaches. She sings and and can plan a mean guitar. Kali was a delight to apply makeup with and getting to push my skills a little bit further as she was the first serious pierced face I got to apply makeup to. Those red lips are to dye for. What a find was this old lounge too. It might not be comfy to sit on but it sure looks amazing in these photographs. Helping to build some Models portfolios has been a delight too with so many talented stunning young women out there I wish them all the best in reaching their goals. As the year rolled on my brother cancelled his destination wedding to Vanuatu, I cancelled my trip to Disneyland as well. Such a heart breaking time but with so many lives been lost this is nothing to feel sorry about. My brother has delayed his wedding and focusing on purchasing a house. Well done to him and his fiancé for finding a positive out of the sad events of postponing their wedding. During the entire year up until the last term I had 3 children home schooling, juggling renovations and makeup clients but what a way to bond as a family. Later in the year I had the pleasure of meeting some more amazing ladies and even been published in some magazines, not to mention a front cover. Up until today 1/2/21 I have had my makeup published in the following magazines with the help, and skill of not just the model but photographer, and friend Sean Sylvester. October issue of Goddess Australia/NZ, full spread and magazine cover Crush Finest Vanquish Vanquish Tattoo Goddess (January) What a way to end such a crazy, disappointing and life changing year to have so many publications under my belt new beautiful ladies getting some beautiful boudoir, glamour session in for themselves. Opening the doors to a new studio.
Bookings for weddings are opening and ready to be booked in with the hope of even further social events starting up. My books are open and ready to makeup you feel cover worthy. 2021 is shaping up to be spectacular. Stay tuned for my more adventurous year then last year. MakeUp to WakeUp Jasmine xoxo
