My Makeup Journey

Skin Care

The first subject I want to teach you is all about skin care and its importance to makeup application. I can't stress enough on how important this is not only to your skin for keeping it youthful for as long as you can but to how your makeup application will look as a whole.

Having skin that is well looked after will provide you with the best base for your makeup to give you that flawless glowy skin we all crave. No matter how hard you try to get that model looking glow without skin care you won't and if you do it won't last the distance. Below is an image of a client who went to a ball recently I did her makeup and her skin looked amazing and her makeup lasted the distance. She doesn't wear makeup often and the image was taken later in the night proving that she gave me the best base for her makeup application.

Aged skin and dry skin are hard to give you the glowly smooth skin if you don't take care of it providing the moisture it requires and craves. This skin type leaves flaky skin on the surface and will show up when makeup is applied.

Oily skin has far too much oil and this gives you pimples and black heads taking away the smooth skin although you have excess oil this won't give you a glowy skin it will just look like you have applied too much oil to your skin. To smooth this out and give the best base an appropriate skin care is needed.

To get the best out of your makeup artist it is best to give them the best base to work with, following a skin care routine that is suited to your skin needs is the way to do this. It really doesn't matter how much money you spend on a makeup artist or on makeup the results will be the same. The makeup will shift, and look dull and lifeless and won't last as long as you want it to.

If you are new to skin care then I suggest you make an appointment for a skin analysis with either myself or your local beauty salon.  Below are two of the skin care ranges I have worked with for my skin and on clients. I love the Alpha-H range especially for acne prone skin. For more information contact me or your local beauty salon.

Don't forget the best skin care routine is done in the morning and at night, with the routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising suited to your skin type. If you are already doing this and your finding it is not working change the brand or add a mask to your routine a mask 3 times a week is optimum but not essential.

Aged skin is skin that is over 30 years of age. I know we aren't old yet but our skin sadly is from 30 so don't forget to reevaluate your skin care routine once you hit this age. Keep your eyes open for further skin care advise and routines to help you get the best skin for all your makeup needs.

Dreams can come true!
